Description

The current 286 ci. Ford flathead set up is a fresh build and has been Dyno tested at 245 hp. Though it has not been track run with the present engine, it should now be capable of surpassing the record speed for its class. The car comes with everything you would need to be race ready on the flats, short of a push truck and an enclosed trailer to haul it in. This includes a laptop computer with a Race Pak data download system, custom built pit trailer capable of fitting into a standard enclosed car hauler, as well as all items required for a pit set-up, such as tent, ground tarps, etc… Most significantly, it has passed inspection and received the all-important SCTA certification. This represents a complex process and significant investment of time and money for any vehicle wanting to run on the flats. You can’t just show up with a racer and expect you’ll be allowed to run, many who do end up with major disappointments when their entry is rejected for lack of compliance and they are turned away as a result of failing to qualify. With the next runs scheduled for August, anyone planning to be there has to start getting things in place between now and May at the latest.

This auction is for an exciting track proven Salts Flats Racer. Although previously listed, it is now being offered with a significantly lower reserve. Wingin’It 1957 XF/GL Lakester was built in 2010-11, driven and owned by the seasoned owner of a well-known Alberta rod shop. This one-of-a-kind build ran its rookie year on the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2012, where it completed 12 runs with a 160.113 mph. recorded speed. This was achieved with a different engine from what is in it today, which was putting out 148 hp. The new engine is putting out 245 hp. The car and team were also featured on RadX TV, Land Speed Heroes.
